Covid-19 Information and Guidance

29 March 2021 (by Jess Hill (jess.hill))

We would like to remind you that you MUST book a Covid-19 (PCR) test for any member of your household who is showing symptoms of Covid-19 which includes a high temperature, persistent cough or a change in sense of taste or smell. In addition to these symptoms, you can also now choose to book a test if you or anyone else in your household have any of the following other symptoms:

- headaches
- aches and pains
- feeling very tired for no good reason
- sore throat
- runny nose
- sneezing
- tummy ache in children

Covid-19 (PCR) tests can be booked at the following link:

https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

We are aware that a number of families have obtained rapid test kits (lateral flow tests). We highly encourage the use of these tests twice per week and you can find further information at the following link:

https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/info/200354/coronavirus_advice/4588/rapid_covid-19_home_tests_for_adults_who_live_with_school_age_children

Please be aware that these rapid tests are NOT to be used for cases where an individual is showing symptoms of Covid-19. Rapid test kits are only available to locate early asymptomatic cases (where an individual is not showing symptoms but has the virus). Rapid test kits are NOT to be used in replace of a PCR test. More information can be found at the following link:

https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/testsandwell

Please remember your household MUST self-isolate if an individual is showing symptoms of Covid-19 until they are tested and confirmed negative. Information on how long you MUST self isolate for in the event of a positive case can be found at the following link:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-long-to-self-isolate/

Hateley Heath currently has the highest number of Covid-19 infections in Sandwell. The rate of infection is now 216 per 100,000 people, which is more than twice the average rate for Sandwell (83 per 100,000) as a whole. Please ensure you are following guidelines, booking a Covid-19 (PCR) test where this applies, using rapid test kits twice per week and self-isolating when necessary.
