Local Academy Board (LAB)
What is the Local Academy Board (LAB)?
Our Local Academy Board (LAB) plays a vital role in supporting and challenging school leaders to ensure the very best outcomes for our children. Acting as the link between the school, its community and the Trust Board, LAB members provide local oversight, champion the Trust's values, and help ensure that every child receives a high-quality education in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
The LAB takes an "eyes on, hands off" approach, focusing on strategic matters rather than the day-to-day running of the school. Governors monitor educational standards, safeguarding, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and school improvement, while ensuring the voices of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community are heard. Through constructive challenge, support and professional curiosity, the LAB helps drive continuous improvement and holds the school accountable for delivering the best possible outcomes for all children, particularly the most vulnerable.

What does the LAB do?
The LAB has delegated responsibility to:

Monitor educational standards, pupil achievement and progress.

Review the school's improvement priorities and evaluate the impact of actions being taken.

Provide support and challenge to school leaders through professional curiosity and evidence-based questioning.

Seek assurance that safeguarding and child protection arrangements are effective and that all children remain safe.

Monitor attendance, behaviour, inclusion, wellbeing and personal development.

Champion the interests of disadvantaged pupils, those with SEND, and the most vulnerable children in our school.

Understand and represent the views of pupils, parents, staff and the wider community.

Promote the Trust's values of Integrity, Ambition, Collaboration and Inclusion throughout school life.

Receive assurance regarding health and safety, estates, risk management and compliance.

Act as ambassadors for the school and support positive engagement with our local community.
Who sits on the Local Academy Board?
Our Local Academy Board is made up of a range of people who bring different perspectives, skills and experiences to support the school's ongoing success. Members typically include:

The Headteacher of the school.

Parent Governors, elected by parents and carers of children attending the school.

Staff Governors, elected by school staff.

Community Governors, local people appointed because of their skills, experience and commitment to supporting education and the local community.

Trust Appointed Governors, where appropriate, to ensure the Board has the skills and expertise required to fulfil its responsibilities effectively.
Together, these individuals provide a balanced blend of educational, professional, parental, community and, where applicable, faith-based perspectives to ensure effective local governance and support for the school

The Directors of Manor MAT have agreed to appoint the following Directors as School Advocates for our school:
